Spring Bridals at the Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival

Updated: Jun 7, 2023

Every year without fail, spring seems to amaze me. It really is the perfect time of year for a wedding! Evy & Grant were married last May, and scheduled a bridal session with me before their wedding. I highly recommend having a separate bridal session, it’s a stress-free time to take pictures with your love and gives you more time to enjoy your wedding day! Evy requested flowers and a fairy garden aesthetic for their session, and where could be better than the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point!? With their busy schedules and Grant’s international internship, we had exactly ONE day to make this happen. April weather can be unpredictable, and when the day came, the storm clouds in the forecast had us worried. As the day went on, the clouds cleared and it turned out to be the most perfect, sunny evening!

Thanksgiving Point is a stunning venue year-round, but their annual Tulip Festival is truly a sight to see. Over 500,000 tulips of all kinds and colors cover the Ashton Gardens in Lehi, Utah - talk about a photographer’s dream!! This photoshoot definitely took some planning and preparation ahead of time. A week prior to the shoot, my husband and I spent our date night walking the gardens to find the best spots and plan where to take photos. We bought our admissions tickets online in advance for Evy, Grant and I, as well as my husband to assist me and my sister who came as Evy’s friend and official Dress Floofer. On the day of the session, we arrived at Thanksgiving Point about two and a half hours before sunset. We purchased a two-hour photo pass and rented a golf cart at the counter. The golf cart ended up being the BEST decision, it saved our time (and our feet!) so we were able to hit all the picturesque spots before our allotted time elapsed.

Evy changed into her dress while my husband took Grant and the golf cart down to the location for their first look. There’s something so exciting about this moment when the realization hits that you’re actually getting married!! Evy looked absolutely amazing in her wedding dress. She wore a floral tiara and lace leaves covered her dress and veil. I was gushing (read: squealing) the entire session about how cute they were!! The night could not have been more perfect, the sun glowed until the very last shots of the session. We took photos among the tulips, water fountains, manicured hedges, and even in a secret garden(!!!) which was exactly what we had all been envisioning. Even the gardens weren’t as crowded as I had expected, likely thanks to the rainy weather forecast. The evening went so wonderfully, and I’m so grateful to have been able to capture these photos for Evy and Grant!
